The Picture Books

Okay, so here are my half dozen picture books; I like to think they're not run of the mill with that little extra something that makes kids scream, laugh, gasp and Grandmother's complain. Part of the joy of writing a picture book is getting to have your story brought to life by the accompanying artwork and I've been very lucky (again) in that department, as I think each of the highly skilled illustrators used on these books was a perfect match.  If you want to decide for yourself, click on the covers and something magickal shall happen...okay, you'll just be whisked off to Amazon. Jeez, there's no pleasing some people.

The crows in Farmer Ham's field are very happy. All day long they sit and eat his corn and no matter how often he shouts and waves his arms, they won't go away. Silly old Farmer Ham. Or is he?

"Engaging, witty book that will delight children of all ages (I'm 50!). Great Illustrations too."

"Love this children's book. So funny the whole family enjoys it time and time again."

Having been frightened away by Farmer Ham, the crows are growing bored with sprouts... Two enterprising crows turn up and soon all the crows are back in Farmer Ham's field, having discovered that the sinister scarecrow is harmless.

"A funny and great read aloud."

"Subtle humour has been added to this story, making it a joy to explain word-play to the little readers."

Deep in the enchanted forest the heart-wrenching sound of sobbing can be heard above the whispering of the trees. There sits a tearful troll, whose run in with three very clever goats has left him feeling particularly useless. When help arrives, will it be enough to make him feel better, or will it have a completely different effect?

"This is a great book, my 4yr old daughter loves it and it has been read and re-read many, many times... I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a twist on traditional tales and has a wicked sense of humour."

Edwin Page was scarier than a bin bag full of bad dreams. And on one night of the year, Edwin Page was very, very scary indeed. But for once, on this Hallowe'en, something is about to change.

"A great book to end an evening of trick or treating."

"This book is certainly a treat. It's a great read with just the right amount of Halloween scariness for all kids to love it..."

Captain Gamma is on a mission to Mars, when he comes face to face with a friendly alien who just wants to play hide-and-seek. While the little alien hides, Captain Gamma decides to seek his fortune by capturing the unsuspecting Martian.

"This book is one that my children loved."

Errol is a very important rooster. He has no time for the chickens, who spend all day pecking corn from the ground. Until, that is, he finds out what is about to hatch from the many eggs in the henhouse
